James I and Charles I: Paving the road for the English Civil War

Timeline

Three major themes for Charles the first:
1. His journalism Career launches in November 1829. He leaves his job at a law office to work as a freelance reporter. He started writing in several London newspapers.
2. 1826 financial problems. The Financial problems cause Charles and his sister Fanny had to withdraw from school. Soon after the Dickens family has to leave their London home.
3. February 1837-Oliver Twist. The first installment of dickens new novel. Dickens now edits.

Three major themes for James the first:
1. The contributes James gave to England.
2. He took the title of "King Of Great Britain."
3. The gunpowder plot.


Historical significance paragraph:
James 1 and Charles 1 of England have a very important significance on England. Although it was not good. Charles 1 was put to death because of the great power he possessed and that the he was abusing his power in Parliament's eyes. They both believed in divine right, which was that God gave them the power to rule. They also had no checks and balances. They both had long reigns as Britain's king. They both behaved like absolute monarchs which meant they had all power in England.

charles I biography
Born in Scotland on November 19, 1600, Charles I, second son of James VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark. He took the throne in 1625. His reign was marked by religious and political problems which eventually led to a civil war. Led by Oliver Cromwell, the opposing group, defeated Charles' hierarchy and he was beheaded in London, England on January 30, 1649.
James I biography
James I, from England, was born in 1566. He was the son of Mary, Queen of Scots, and Henry, Lord Darnley. He took his throne in 1603 and reined from 1567 and 1625. At first he took the throne of Scotland at age one but eventually in 1603 became King of England. In 1611 he made a King James English version of the Bible. King James I died in 1625 from getting sick.
