30 Years War

30 Years War

The war that begins polical and ends religious wars

The thirty year war was a very social, religious and political war. This war began in Bohemia the present day check republic. Ferdinand the catholic king of Bohemia wanted to suppress the Protestants and move royal power over the nobles. The war spread through Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Poland, France. Mercenaries were hired to fight the wars. Those who fought burnt villages, tortured, killed without mercy and killed many crops. These murderous acts were followed by famine and diseases. This war led to a sever depopulation. (1/3 off all Germans died as a result of the war.)

CAUSES:
Religion was the very first motivation of the war. The battle started because of the conflicts on Protestant and Catholic beliefs. Then it turned more into a political fight for the ruling rights over each other. All the monarchies in Europe wanted to be predominant among other countries. The power struggle between the emperor and rival princes' contributed to the outbreak of the 30 years' war.
OUTCOMES:
The war led to severe depopulation and about 1/3 of people in German states died. Villages suffered worse than towns, but many towns and cities also saw their populations, manufacture, and trade decline substantially. It left German lands divided into more than 360 states. They still acknowledged the rule of the holy emperor but had its own government, currency, church, armed forces, and foreign policy. This lasted for about 223 years because they had more power this way. The war ended with a series of treaties that made up the Peace of Westphalia.

30 years war

What happened to this world,
to bring in political issues
To start a war
To think that we can treat people like tissues.
Yes religion was a problem,
an issue still unsolved
Yet this was a chance
The chance to stop it all
Many called on mercenaries
Ones paid to fight the war
Many had more that they could carry
Merciless killings and endless rounds of torture
Bohemia and Ferdinand is where this war begun
But in the end with all the deaths no one really won
Protestants and Catholics were another cause of this fight
Because there were disagreements
It became the night of all nights
The war was a form of globalization
But also a war for inspiration
political wars were once not a problem
But having this war made the Idea blossom
Many people were set on their death beds
While others were tortures and hung by their heads
This war was a form of separation
Instead of coming together to form a nation
This was very long
But ended with a treaty
When you learn a lot about it
It may be sort of freaky
This war was a war that was indeed critical
This war was the war that began all political
This war could have never been started
If only it weren't for the faint hearted
This war was indeed prestigious
But not in the case that it was religious
When thinking of a war
Please try to be smart
Listen to your head but also listen to your hear.
